Community Response or Emergency Response
Kawakawa Bay has an Emergency Response Group (ERG) that is affiliated to the Community Association. The make up of the committee for this group is volunteer representatives from the Community Association, Fire Brigade, First Response (St John / Kawakawa Bay Orere Clinic) and Civil Defence. It is chaired by the representative from the Community Association.
The objective of the group is to have a current plan that allows Kawakawa Bay to be self sufficient for 72 hours in the event of a localised or regional event that isolates the community. Such as Tsunami, Volcanic eruption, earthquake, flood, landslides causing major outages to power, communications and roading.
It is the community associations view that we will provide resources (people) and community assets to the managing services so we can work together to follow the plan that has been agreed and signed off by the Auckland Council.
